Legal Liabilities

  • The Quantock School of Riding is an approved Equestrian Centre, set in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) and a site of special scientific interest with direct access on to the Quantock Hills from 3 pedestrian gates leading off the farm.
  • All our instructors at the Riding School are fully trained British Horse Society (BHS) riding instructors.
  • The Quantock School of Riding are members of the Association of British Riding Schools and an affiliated Pony Club Centre.
  • The Riding School is fully licensed with the Local Authority.
  • The Quantock School of Riding is fully insured for Public and Employees Liability
  • All staff at the Riding Centre are qualified first aiders.
  • All staff are CRB checked and adhere to the Child Protection Policy.
  • All our staff and trainees are given training in safety procedures including what to do in the event of a fire or an accident.
  • An incident book is kept on site for recording of any minor accidents or falls by staff, trainees and clients.
  • Health and Safety procedures at the Riding School are strictly adhered to. The Quantock School of Riding operates an approved Health and Safety policy. We have an excellent record of safety at the Riding School.
  • All equipment supplied is regularly checked and meets all recommended safety standards, where applicable.
  • All our horses and ponies are proven schoolmasters, schooled to the highest levels and carefully matched to the rider’s ability. You can learn more about our horses in our ‘Meet the Horses’ section.
  • Please remember that riding is a ‘risk sport’ and all clients are advised to take out personal accident insurance to protect themselves in the event of any fall or accident. While every effort is made to be safe, accidents happen. The Quantock School of Riding cannot take responsibility for accidents and a condition of taking lessons here is that you accept this.
  • Riding hats that meet current British and European standards MUST be worn at all times when mounted and we recommend that all riders wear a body protector at all times when mounted but they MUST wear one when jumping. The Riding School can provide these to you (for a nominal charge hire) if you do not have your own.
  • The Riding School complies with strict rules and recommendations, which are for your safety and that of others and the welfare of the horses (these will be provided in paper format upon arrival at the Riding School or you can follow the link for The Quantock School of Riding ‘Rules and Recommendations’ (can be found under ‘About Us’). We ask that you abide by the rules and hope that you will have a safe and enjoyable time riding with us.
  • A policy of non-discrimination on grounds of race, creed sex or politics is followed at the Riding School (a copy of the policy is available upon request).
